Genesis 17:1-2
1) "And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2) And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly."
As at the time God visited Abram with the covenant, he was 99 Years of age, when all hopes and desires to have children might have been over. However, the covenant manifested after 25 years of the promise, because of human angle introduced by Abram. He went in with Hagar and had a son called Ishmael, who was 13 years when God decided to re appear to Abram, because of the covenant.
What Abram committed was not pleasing to God, but because of the word and promise of covenant of God cannot change. God Has a prime value on His words. Even, if Abram had missed the blessing of the covenant because of his actions; his seeds will still enjoy the benefits. With covenant, we do have obligation not to abuse the power backing it up. Amen.
Abram had earlier laughed when God visited him initially about the covenant. Subsequently, Sarai also laughed as well. It was the covenant that caused them to laugh. God can visit you and cause you to laugh. Become a friend of God. Follow His directives and you will have a covenant that would make you to laugh, in Jesus Name. Amen.
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thanks for the covenant that stands for ever, in Jesus Name.
2) Lord, thank you for giving me a covenant that would cause me to laugh, in Jesus Name.
3) Father, I surrender all, let me live my life in your righteousness, in Jesus Name.
4) Father, give me the grace to work before you, in Jesus Name.
5) Lord, give me the grace to meet with your standards always, in Jesus Name.
6) Lord, uphold your covenant with me and family, in Jesus Name.
7) Lord, let your covenant manifest in my life, in Jesus Name. Amen.
