Exodus 19:4-5
"Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles wings and brought you unto myself. 5) Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine."
There are key sentences in the above passages wherein God was speaking to His people. They are : 1) Ye have seen what I did to the Egyptians. (The Egyptians were mutual enemies of God and the Israelites) 2) How I bare you on eagles wings. ( The eagles wings represent safety) 3) And brought you unto myself ( God wanted their fellowship) 4) Now therefore. ( calling their attention specifically) 5) If you will obey my words indeed. (this was an indication of who God Has been to them and how the people have responded) 6) and keep my covenant ( God’s unchanging promises) 7) Then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people. (You shall be special towards God in all things.)
8) For all the earth is mine. ( Everything belongs to God in heaven and earth)
This part will deal with 1 above. Ye have seen what I did to the Egyptians. God visited His wrath upon the Egyptians with 10 plagues and opening of the Red Sea for the sake of the deliverance of the Israelites. God still deals with our enemies like in the days of old. Fighting our battles and making ways for us. The people knew the power of God, still they murmured and complained. Despite the manna and quails, water from the rock etc, they wanted to return to Egypt.
God wanted a quality relationship with the people of Israel hence the covenant. No matter how the atmosphere looks like around you and family today, there is our God that operates with covenant not contract. The covenant of God will speak for you as well. Stand with God. Check your standing with HIM. Start from looking at your lifestyles if they conform with the admonitions of God? God Has covenant for every situation. Amen.
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thank you for giving me another day of fresh glory, in Jesus Name.
2) Lord, thank you for the covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that is extended to me and my family, in Jesus Name.
3) Lord, establish your covenant of peace with me and my family, in Jesus Name.
4) Father, let me walk in your covenant in Jesus Name.
5) Lord, let your covenant manifest in every area of my life, in Jesus Name.
6) Father, keep me and my family in your covenant till the end, in Jesus Name.
7) Lord, let me be part of a peculiar people from now on into your Kingdom, in Jesus Name. Amen.
