“WITH THANKSGIVING”

Col 4:2

"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving"

This is our season of thanksgiving and in our thanksgiving, there is need for us to be prayerful and watchful, so that our thanksgiving will not lead to unrighteousness and sin. What does this mean to Christians during this season? The originators of thanksgiving in America set the season apart to pray and reflect on what God did to save the native survivors of the harsh circumstances from lack of supplies and provisions; and death of friends and families. The few that survived were indeed able to give thanks to God.

However, this our wonderful generation has turned thanksgiving season to a time to take vacation, travel, eat a lots of turkey and throw expensive/lavish gatherings. Prayers, fasting, caution and watchfulness have been dropped from thanksgiving. Statistics of causalities during this season show that our young adults and teenagers display more of an ungrateful attitude toward God, hence for some the season ends up in unpleasant results and outcome.

Christians should stand gap for the nation, societies and indeed the families, so that the season will not become unpleasant. Thanksgiving should revert to its original form and purpose of strictly thanking God for blessing us with life. Praise God!!!! Do not forget to pray and stand watch to thank the Almighty God always.
