Jeremiah 14:22

Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? Art thou not He, O Lord our God? Therefore, we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things."

The Bible passage above reminds me of one of the contentious days in my friend’s village. We were confronted by host of vanities of stack unbelievers discussing that stopping the activities of idol in town had caused the rain not to come in due season. Since my friend is one of the leaders in his town; they asked my friend for money to go and appease to their idols to release rain.

My friend and myself frowned at such request and said admonish them that no one was able to bring rain in due season but the power of God. These people were so sure of what they believed; and my we on the other hand were also sure of the power of God we have known, believed, seen and trusted. The meeting ended in a serious argument and disagreement with us; but did not give any money and the people went away hopeless.

However, we stood with high hopes in the Lord God of Israel and we called Him (GOD) to surprise us and all the vanity of Gentiles; with showers of blessing for the towns and the region around. To the Glory of God, the next day there was rain and rain day after day. We bless God that we did not give any monies. If we had; they would claim that it was their power that brought the rain. No vanities of the gentile can cause rain, but the sovereign of God. AMEN.
