“MAKING OF A NEW COVENANT”. Part 1

Hebrews 8:7-8

"For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. - For finding fault with them, He said, Behold, the days come, said the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah"

When God established the original covenant, God was all out committed to the accomplishment, of the covenant. The purpose of the covenant was especially to redeem all the house of Israel and Judah from the oppression of captivity.

The covenant was given not to have any faults. It was given as a way of provision and way of victory and blessing. However, God demanded obedience and worship of the people of Israel to enjoy the covenant, hence the people did not hold steadfast to having faith in God. They murmured and complained at every point of need. Many of the people wanted to go back to Egypt, the land of bondage as a way out of temporary setback.

Whenever the people had any form of setback, they chose to step out of the covenant and seek after the lesser gods. The people made God to open their lives to series of oppression and captivity as a means to get their attention. The more God wanted their attention the more they went farther away from God, thus breaking God’s covenant. The plea this day is that we should all prayerfully remain in the loop of the new covenant this year

Prayer points for the day

  • 1) Father, thank you for the beginning of this New Year 2014, in Jesus Name.
  •  2) Lord, thank you for the journey so far into this New Year, in Jesus Name.
  •  3) Almighty God, I thank you for the gift of my life and that of my family members, in Jesus Name.

  • 6) Father, let the details of the new covenant stay permanently in my heart, in Jesus Name.
