“KEEPING THY WAY”

Proverbs 16:17

"The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul."

The book of proverbs was written by King Solomon when he was very young and vibrant in God. Ecclesiastes was written in his middle age, while Songs of Solomon was written in his old age. The above passage is one of the moral virtues in the Bible, in view of the extent of the wisdom and revelation endowed on King Solomon.

The key point this morning is to keep our ways. The question now is, how should we keep our ways. Commit your ways and directions into the hands of our Creator. The father of the author, King David always committed his ways into the hands of God in times of peace and in battles and he ended well. We cannot keep our ways to or by ourselves. The more we rely on our strength in keeping our ways the more we succumb to the difficulties of life. Let God be in front, so that he can pave your way!

As true children of God, let us keep our way by diligently calling on God of heaven and earth for the special grace to be able to shun every appearance of cheating and evil. Cheating is an unfair exchange against the plans of God. Ask for the grace to endure the present circumstances of life, His grace will empower you to shun evil and therefore keep thy way and the soul preserved. When any Christian follows the popular ideas of evil, he/she as a result will be dragged towards evil and the soul could be in danger. God has placed a big value on your soul in Christ Jesus, by this we can attest that our soul is indeed valuable to God. Maintain the highway of uprightness and you will depart from evil and keep thy way in God – amen!
