Genesis 29:20
"And Jacob served seven years for Rachel ; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her"
Love matters; both spiritually and physically as we have been reading in the reflections since the beginning of this month, February, the year of the Lord. From the beginning of ancient days into the New Testaments and into our generations ; we can possibly trace the trend of love from the generations recorded in the Bible, from the time of Abraham to David; from David’s time until the carrying away into Babylon; and from that time to the birth of Christ: and till now. Love had been playing great roles in the life of mankind.
The above paragraph is to reveal that love had be in existence before the writings of love in the New Testament. Love is preeminent and it is the prerogative of the Almighty God. HE is God of love and wants us to love as Jesus is loving us despite our shortcomings.
Seven (7) year circle was sacred in the ancient world and it has such impact in our generation. Jacob waited and served his father in law, Laban for seven years because he had nothing to pay the bride price on Rachel. This was how Jacob would express his love for Rachel. The service Jacob gave was because of love. True love will serve. It will go extra mile just for the sake of love. Let your love serve God, your neighbor. Praise God!!!!!
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thank you for the love of God for me and my household in Jesus Name.
2) Lord, thank you because you are the love that sustains my life, in Jesus Name.
3) Father, create a heart of true love for me, in Jesus Name.
4) Almighty God, let me focus in love in all things I do, in Jesus Name.
5) Father, give me the grace to love as your word has directed, in Jesus Name.
6) Father, let the spirit of real and genuine love continue in my household, in Jesus Name.
7) Lord, let love characterize my destiny, in Jesus Name. Amen.
