“FATHER, I THANK THEE”

John 11:41-42a

"Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up His eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. --And I knew that thou hearest me always:"

From the above passages, it is revealed that Jesus had the culture of giving thanks before and after all the miracles. How do we conclude this? This could be concluded because Jesus said in verse 42a that He knew His Father heard Him always. The passion to heal the sick, to deliver the desolate and raise the dead, inspired Jesus to thank God in advance, and Jesus was always granted His request.

What inspires us to give thanks to God?  In our everyday Christian living and lives, there should be something that must inspire us to give thanks. To be alive for another day, week, month and year, is a gift to be thankful; talk less of all the daily load of God’s blessings and provisions upon our lives and family!

We should give thanks always, in all things. Jesus always gave thanks to God and that provoked the power of favor to carry out miracles, signs and wonders.  Thankful heart and attitude should first be expressed towards God, and should not be deterred by life circumstances.  Also whenever help is received from a fellow man, thanksgiving is usually expressed towards the doer. How much more to God who made the help possible, and who is forever faithful and whose mercy is new every day. God had prepared the path for the help from eternity past, which manifests in eternity present. The admonition today, is to give thanks to God and then to man for all favors we receive through man, the Bible says  in John 3:27 ” A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven”
