“COME AND SING: IN THE HEIGHT OF ZION” – Part I

Jeremiah 31: 12

"Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall, flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all."

By the special gracious grace of God, we are in the month of new song. The Lord will surely put new songs in our mouths, in Jesus Name. Amen.

The above passage was during the time when the return of Jews from captivity was being foretold – the entire nation of Israel would be once again restored and God made a promise for a new covenant with Israel. Captivity of different kinds came to the people of Israel for so many reasons, but God brought them out. This time with new songs that was different from the one they sang by the rivers of Babylon.

At the high point of Zion the Israelite came together to sing a different song, a new song; because God did not only set them free, they were restored and had promise of a new covenant. The song at the height of Zion is for the whole world to hear and know that God had visited His people for a new thing and a new song followed.

The Israelites came to the point of singing in the height of Zion, because they totally surrendered and depended on God. They prefer God to deal with them than the Babylonians. They cried to God in desperate prayers out of their deepest sorrow and darkest hour. As a result, they found grace in the wilderness and God showed them His everlasting love that can never fade or fail. PRAISE GOD!
