Acts 1:8
"But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you : and ye shall witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth"
The power to witness is exclusively given for the purpose of witnessing. However, in that power is included power of dominion to deliver the oppressed and the captive. The power is available because witnessing is all about Jesus and what Jesus can do. The power is loaded and personal to the soul winner and must not be misused. Why? Because The Holy Spirit is actively involved.
Imagine that Jesus appears to us now, what do you think HE would be chatting about? The gospel and how much have we been involved in sharing the good news? That is why the power is given to lead you and me. The uttermost part of the earth is also important. You cannot have such extensive assignment without the power backed by the Holy Spirit. The assignment is huge and so the power must be correspondingly huge.
The commission to witness is a command addressed to individuals. It is still relevant and holds today. Go all out in person or with your substance to fulfill your own part of this great commission. Be personally involved. Share the goodness of Jesus in your life. Let it impact any discouraged souls around you and you will be rewarded for your labor of love, in Jesus Name. Amen.
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thank you for your compassion for my soul, in Jesus Name.
2) Father, thank you for giving me a heart of love to win souls for the kingdom, in Jesus Name.
3) Lord, ignite the power to win souls for the kingdom, in Jesus Name.
4) Father, deliver me from every spirit of procrastination to winning souls, in Jesus Name.
5) Father, let my lifestyles be enough soul winning, in Jesus Name.
6) Lord, arise and give us the power backed up by the Holy Spirit to win souls to the kingdom, in Jesus Name.
7) Almighty God, do a new thing of your power in my life to show that you are the only God to reverence for making me, in Jesus Name. Amen.
