Hosea 4:1
Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor the knowledge of God in the land.
In Matthew 23:23 the Bible lists the weightier matters and we should be more alert to the issues in that direction. The issue of weightier matters had been from the Bible days when God had to judge His own people in the land of Israel. Why? because they did not embrace the precepts of God and HIS ways. There was no truth. No mercy nor the knowledge of God. Imagine, there was a controversy between God and man. What a thing?
God established the earth with truth and created us with truth. However, Satan came into the world to deceive us. However, many have deviated from the truth and its sources, hence the controversy. If you were admonished to tithe, give and serve, there must also be reasons to admonish about the truth of the gospel, salvation, sanctification, judgement and eternity etc.
Mercy has been highlighted as one of the weightier matters. It is mercy that has brought us all till this time. Mercy can only prevails against judgement while there is still time and we are alive. In Luke chapter 16, the rich man could no longer access mercy not because mercy was not there, but because mercy had completed its process while he had time in life to work with mercy. There should be no controversy with the giver and maker of mercy. Praise God!
Prayer points for the day
1) Lord, thank you for another day of knowing about your mercy and lovingkindness for me, in Jesus Name.
2) Father, give me the merciful heart to show mercy in all situations, in Jesus Name.
3) Lord, let mercy work out for me till the end, in Jesus Name.
4) Father, do not let me strive with mercy, in Jesus Name.
5) Father, my life and family will not discount mercy, in Jesus Name.
6) Lord, let me fulfill my destiny by mercy, in Jesus Name.
7) Father, put mercy in all of my path, in Jesus Name. Amen.
