Jacob released extra double portion of blessing for Joseph before his death, not because Joseph was the first born that qualified for double, but because of his (Joseph’s) uprightness; whereas the concept of double portion was established by Moses for the people of Israel to follow. Reference Deuteronomy 21:17, but however the protocol of double portion for first born was broken. Reuben missed it, but Joseph got it.

There is always a regular portion for everyone, as well as portion above for some. What Hannah experienced in life was not common, hence she received a worthy portion. What happened to Joseph was also extraordinary at his young age, hence he received a portion more and above than his fellow brethren. He got tested many times and he prevailed. All that happens in one’s life is a determinant of the allocation of your portion – regular or double.

Character plays some major role when the allocation of Reuben is compared with that of Joseph. Rueben, was described in the Bible as unstable as water, he went too far and unrepentant. Character flaw robbed Reuben from receiving the right of his double portion. Jesus Christ is the first born of all creation; hence he was qualified for double portion. In that sense, all followers and believers of Jesus Christ are qualified for double portion. Remain stable in your faith in Christ, repent of your sins and watch out your salvation with fear and trembling.

1) Lord, create in me a lean heart and renew the right spirit inside and outside of me, in Jesus Name.
2) Father, qualify me for my double portion, in Jesus Name.
3) Lord, restore unto me the right of my double, portion, in Jesus Name.
4) Almighty God, spread double portion of your blessings across my family this month, in Jesus Name.
5) Lord, let me have double victory for all the battles that I have lost in my life, in Jesus Name.
6) Almighty God, Separate my life from whatever can cause me to lose my double portion allocation, in Jesus Name.
7) Almighty God, guide me through all the challenges of life and let my portion remain double, in Jesus Name. Amen.
