“NEVERTHELESS AT THY WORD”

Luke 5:5

“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net."

Simeon Peter, James and John had been professional fishermen for a long time. They decided to change their strategy to fish at night believing that the multitude of fish at sleep could be caught. Disappointed, no fish were caught, and they became discouraged and worn out. As they were preparing to go home empty handed because of their fruitless efforts, Jesus somehow showed up in the midst of their hopelessness and frustrations.

How many times have you strategized and still come out short? The same place of disappoint became the same place of their success because of the words spoken by Jesus. The appearance of Jesus made the difference-His word brought the breakthrough.  And as they witnessed, divine intervention superseded their strategy.

Simeon Peter said they had toiled all night without taking anything. That was deeply frustrating!! The word of Jesus that came forth, brought favor and removed the state of “nothingness” in the life of Peter.
