“LOVEST THOU ME?” – Part II

John 21:17

"He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because He said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto Him, Lord, thou knowest all things ; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep."

Jesus is not man that waste words like man. The word “love” meant so much to our Lord Jesus Christ that He had to ask Peter three times whether he (Peter) loved Him . (Jesus) Peter was one of the closest followers and indeed associates of Jesus and no doubt Jesus knew what Peter was up to in all things, especially when it comes to love.

From the third response from Peter to Jesus, it appeared that Peter was caught unawares that Jesus wanted the assurance of his ( Peter’s) loving ability and grace to deal with His Sheep. Jesus did not want any of His sheep to be lost despite the fact of the anointing of Peter.

Finally, scarcely do we involve in any thing in life without love for it. Most of what we have achieved started with love. Love is at the center of most achievements in life. God the Father values love and as such we must do the same. It was the action of love from God the Father towards us that made HIM to give us His only begotten Son. This divine action of HIS love is still bringing people to Jesus till today. Allow the spirit of love to fill your heart so that you can begin to love as Jesus loves. It was about love with Jesus when it comes to feeding His sheep; not much of the anointing! LOVE! LOVE!! LOVE!!!
