Acts 9:3-4
"And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?"
When God wants to transform a man like Saul and change his name, there would be an encounter. Jacob had en encounter and his name was changed to Israel and he became a great man of God with great reference. It was a divine encounter indeed for Saul because It was time for him to change and eventually be captured by Jesus. His name was changed from Saul to Paul.
The voice Saul heard on his journey asked him probably the biggest question of his life. “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?” it was a divine question from a divine voice, which had a divine end. Saul’s persecution of the followers of Christ amounted to persecution of the gospel and the teaching of Christ, including the person of Christ.
There is always a common purpose for every encounter and it is to glorify and reveal the sovereignty of God. A single encounter is capable of moving one from austerity to prosperity, sickness to wellness, lack to abundance, etc. Jabez wrestled in prayers with God, but Jacob wrestles with an Angel. Divine encounter is the prerogative of the Almighty God and is always customized. The encounter of Brother “A”will be different from that of Sister “B”. As you read and believe, you can pray in Jesus Name for a definite encounter and experience of/with God that can re write the history of your life afresh for good and for ever. Praise God.
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thank you for giving me another chance to be well and alive today, in Jesus Name.
2) Lord, thank you for the blessing of my being above the ground and not below, in Jesus Name.
3) Father, thank you for your great mercy over my life and family, in Jesus Name.
4) Lord, let me begin to experience your sovereign power in a new dimension, in Jesus Name.
5) Lord, let me encounter your power that will turn around my life for good and to your glory, in Jesus Name.
6) Lord, arise and let me have a definite encounter for definite purpose for you, in Jesus Name.
7) Father, as this year is running to an end, let all the struggles and troubles of my life run to an end, in Jesus Name. Amen.
